Steve: need to get a tranny order in for it as well. Got the seat installed today. Need to get the interior done so I can start on the drive train. Gonna gut that as well and start over. Ain't the disease wonderful

Thanks Killer, ritikal, starky. Yep gutted everything Idon't need to start and go forward 1/8 or 1/4 mile at a time. Replaced it all with 18 guage aluminum. Only real time consuming item so far was the wiring, started from scratch, be the chits to lose a race because of a short. Everything is run through a painless fuse block with 7 circuits. The first run gonna be a azz kicker, I have no idea what its gonna do. In the plans right now gonna redo the rear-end again and put 4.88's or 5.13's in, new tranny, twin turbo 425 hp increase, get rid of the DOT cheater slicks put on mickey thompson 28x10.5's rear and 3.5" on the front.

Weight is way overrated! Thats why killerbee is on a diet. 100 lbs is equal to approx a tenth of ET in the quarter mile, a little less in the eighth. Painless is the only way to go on the wiring. I went so far as using all weatherpack ends on the dragster. Should be a fun one come spring !!!! Heck even the weather will be more fun. I am planning on maybe getting my two engines to the machine shop this weekend, if the weather cooperates. The Nova is finally getting a new powerplant (same motor no freshen since 1988) and the dragsters normally aspirated 468 is getting freshened for the Camaro.

Had one on a 650 Yamaha few years back and it was a fun ride. 99 miles in 37 minutes, fastest trip made. I have a lot more reading and research to do before I actually make a commitment on it. It is a custom made turbo set-up Custom turbo kit that fits a Big Block chevy. Parts: Custom built mild steel 1 7/8ths headers- jet hot coated black coated mild steel crossover w/ stainless flex Precision PT-88 w/ .96 a/r exhaust - supports 1200 rwhp, exhaust housing is jet hot coated black JGS 50 mm R series wastegate JGS 56 mm Bypass valve 4" Stainless Steel down pipe w/ vbands 4" Aluminum exhaust w/ 4" ss borla XR-1 muffler, turn down @ rearend Procharger Alum. carb hat Cottons front mount Air to Air intercooler Complete 3" alum. intake piping from compressor to intercooler and intercooler to carb hat Hot parts are all v band connections I ran this setup on a stock iron headed 454 that has rods and pistons and a very mild turbo cam. The heads are closed chambered oval ports The compression was 8.5 to 1, and all dyno pulls were done on race gas. This turbo kit produced 762 RWHP and 715 RWTQ @ 20 lbs of boost, and 656 RWHP/ 660 RWTQ @ 15lbs of boost on my stock headed 454. Also, those HP numbers are only @ 5700 RPM! In my T Type, @ 3750lbs, leaving @ 2000rpm and no boost off the foot brake the car went 10.17 @ 144 mph w/ a crappy 1.79 60'. Obviously, leaving off the trans brake w/ some boost and getting the 60's in the 1.50 range, we felt the car would run 9.70 to 9.80 without leaning on it. |

Rick From what I have been reading all ya got to do is add 150 shot NOS,, gets her spooled up real quick Thats where I am having trouble with this whole turbo thing. If you want the horses just add a triple stage NOS and be done with it but that means tearing into the motor and make her pretty strong. About $6 grand for the turbo set-up. Strong enough motor to handle 3 stages of NOS Probably around $10 grand plus the cost of the NOS set-up about $1,800 But I really like the sound of a spooled turbo at 100+ ;D |
